OUR HISTORY

Prior to CIH Canada, there was a lack of formal educational pathways for housing in Canada. Few courses were offered in universities or colleges and learning often happened on the job. For experienced housing professionals, they were unable to measure their skills and expertise to a national standard for housing excellence.

As a result, most housing professionals have had to learn through work experience. But with baby boomers now reaching retirement age, that valuable knowledge is being lost and the housing sector will need to compete more heavily with other sectors to attract, develop and retain the best and brightest.

CIH Canada was created in 2013, recognizing these issues and wanting to help the housing sector attract, develop and retain the best and the brightest.
