A pair of vacant properties on Princess Street are to be the next location for the city’s efforts to increase the affordable housing stock.
A report to be presented to city council on Tuesday lays out a proposal to partner with a not for profit to develop the properties at 1316 Princess St. and 1318 Princess St., east of Portsmouth Avenue.
The proposal for the 1.05-hectare site calls for the construction of as many as 164 units, 90 of which would be affordable housing.
The property has been vacant since the 1990s when a fire destroyed the Goodwill store on the site. The city bought the land in 2013 for $1.5 million.
