Course Overview:

Housing professionals work within a broader social, political and economic environment. They need to understand how this framework has been influenced by external factors and in turn how these factors have influenced the form and nature of housing in Canada. This course explores the key influences and issues in housing policy, how policy and programs have evolved, and provides learners the opportunity to engage with relevant research and literature.

  • The social, political and economic context in which housing is delivered
  • Major influences and issues in housing policy
  • How housing policy shapes organizational practice
  • International examples of alternate policy options
